Jerry  Milek’s web site which details his last couple of decades building his replica full size spitfire in GRP with an Allison engine, an entirely rebuilt V12 Jaguar engine, block only.

Jerry  Milek, an ex Czech Airforce MIG 15 fighter pilot, was clearly his own man, as were many of us. He has paid the price but is still working on his project. Just trying to afford the engine and propeller cost. See how they mount up? A very interesting site, well worth a good look at: As it is a lifetime of flying and a history of an individualist. His pure calibre has been duly inherited by his son, who is an A340 Captain, and an A380 candidate, as we  would say in the UK forces. Not many of us are familiar with the MIG 15, but we have one at the RNAS Yeovilton. -I have seen it and shown it to my Russian wife, who to my amazement was very interested too! (I told her about the Russian Technicians collecting metal shavings off the shop floor, with their soft soled shoes, at Rolls Royce, having been given the drawings already!)

To the dauntless, nothing can be denied? Possibly the most detailed site showing the challenges and the pleasures of building a Spitfire 26 with all sorts of improvements. I just knew he must own the Mazda dealership. Which is probably the case. -Rotary Wankel Engines? This is the site to look at, for starters. He takes one to pieces cleans and rebuilds it. Very gifted chap and has a video of the engine startup.

If you are not aware of Cleco-ing, Dimpling and Riveting or Countersinking, this is the place where you almost get to comprehend what is involved. But don’t be put off by it. You don’t have to go this far?

This is a really excellent site for those building their own planes. It contains incredible detail when you follow the links of different builders. Very impressive indeed. Metal working details are very detailed.

This is very smartly produced site which extols the virtues of building a replica Spitfire in timber and special skin cladding, very like the DH Mosquito. An extensive site with many features and contacts. Worth exploring in depth.

You need to join this club for many reasons, which becomes apparent as you work your way around it.

Murphy Aircraft Manufacturing Ltd. Chilliwack, British Columbia

An excellent range of aircraft for kit builders and completed aircraft. Obviously a potentially successful company at least, but with a great track record too. This is another site which provides a range of video’s for your further knowledge. Great!

If you want floats, or rugged well spread large wheels, tricycle or conventional gear, this is the place.

in up-market flying, even jets.

CIRRUS specialise in GRP aircraft, single piston engine types with GARMIN panel enhancement which results in a beautifully safe instrumented aircraft. They will have a jet certified by 2010.
